Liberal Democrat campaigners and councillors joined hundreds of local people at the latest protest rally organised by the Save Weston A&E group.

Speaking at Saturday’s cross-party Save Weston A&E rally, on the 71st Birthday of the NHS, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate Councillor Patrick Keating said: “I have called on health bosses to rethink plans to close 24 hour A&E services in the town.

“Closing the A&E is not a viable option for a town the size of Weston. We need health bosses to seriously look at alternative options, such as the plan proposed by Weston Hospital’s own consultants.

“The Lib Dems will be keeping up the fight to demand the better NHS services Weston residents deserve.”
