Councillor Mike Bell reports: “I was at North Somerset Council’s Health Scrutiny Panel this week to argue for both Clarence Park and Graham Road GP surgeries to be kept open. There is a consultation underway that proposes to either:
1) close Clarence Park Surgery and merge with Graham Road or
2) keep Clarence Park open as a branch surgery for nurse appointments and move GP appointments to Graham Road
“I don’t think either of these are the answer. The NHS plans to invest £3 million in new primary care facilities in the town centre. This will probably include relocation of Graham Road, so it makes no sense at all to reorganise everything in advance of this.
“I am not convinced that merging practices at Graham Road is feasible anyway – parking is diabolical and I’m unclear how they can accommodate a 50% increase in patient numbers. We’ve got more work to do.”
