Save our A&E events planned

by mikebell on 27 June, 2018

The campaign to Save Weston’s 24 hour Accident and Emergency unit and protect our local NHS services has a series of events planned to mark one year since A&E closed overnight.

Councillor Mike Bell, who is a member of the organising group, said: “Please come along to some or all of these events to show NHS chiefs and the government that we care about our local services.”

Weve got the following events planned to mark the first anniversary of closure:

* Candlelit Vigil at 9.30 pm on 4th July at Weston Hospital.

* A Picnic on the Beach to celebrate the NHS’s 70th Birthday party at 5.30 pm on 5th July – we are asking people to bring their own picnics and meet on the beach on the right-hand side of the Grand Pier. There will be birthday cake, games, and if enough people turn up we want to create a large NHS logo from people lying in the sand, which will be photographed from the pier.

* A March and Rally at 12 midday on 7th July starting from the Italian Gardens in Weston. We will have a short march around the town led by the North Somerset Samba band, returning to the Italian Gardens to hear from key local and national speakers.
