Opening hours at the Town Hall and library in Walliscote Grove Road, Weston-super-Mare are changing from Tuesday 8 May.
A review of visitor numbers has shown that, on average, only one or two enquiries are made at the Town Hall reception between 5pm and 8pm Monday to Friday and between 2.30pm and 7pm on Saturdays.
Use of the library is also low at these times so, in order to make best use of resources, North Somerset Council is reducing the opening hours.
The new hours will be:
The library will be self-service only until 9.30am on each day, but will be staffed at all other times.
Both the Town Hall and library are closed on a Sunday. Customers needing a police service on Sundays can call 101.
The nearby library at The Campus in Highlands Lane, Locking Castle will continue to remain open until 8pm on Mondays to Fridays, until 5pm on Saturdays and from 10am-5pm on Sundays.
Worle Library and Children’s Centre in Mendip Avenue is also open on a self-service basis until 8pm Monday to Saturday and from 10am–4pm on Sundays for library customers who have attended an induction. To sign up for this service, please ask library staff or visit www.eventbrite.co.uk and search for Worle Library.
Adjustments to the opening times at two other libraries will take effect at the same time. From 8 May Nailsea Library in Somerset Square will open on Saturdays from 9am-1pm, instead of 2pm. This brings the opening hours in line with other branches and means the council can continue to staff the late opening until 6pm on Tuesdays.
The library at the For All Healthy Living Centre in Lonsdale Avenue, Weston will no longer open on Saturday mornings, but all other hours remain the same.
A further change means the library enquiry centre is now available from 10am-4pm, instead of 5pm, Monday to Friday. Enquiries on any subject can be made by phone on 01934 888 855 or 07919 540 839 or by email at email@example.com.
Customers can also search, renew and reserve books on the Libraries West website at www.librarieswest.org.uk 24 hours a day, seven days a week.Leave a comment
