North Somerset Council’s “parking review” is continuing – but still excluding most councillors, including those representing Weston town centre areas.

The council is set to agree a ‘framework’ for the review, which is basically just a long list of the issues that need to be addressed rather than any suggestions on the solutions needed. This is so frustrating since residents and some councillors have been banging on about this for YEARS. Why is it taking so long to progress?

This is a direct product of having had a council led by the same people and party for 12 years. The Conservative Leader and Deputy Leader of Council have remained the same throughout that time – Nigel Ashton and Elfan Ap Rees – and with 75% of the seats on the council, they think they can ignore other opinions and do what they like.

We have local elections on Thursday May 2nd. We need a better balance of parties and independents on the council. You know what to do ?
