Do you love live music, seeing a theatre show or wandering around art galleries?

If so, North Somerset Council wants your views on how to put the area on the map for arts, culture and heritage over the next decade.

Last month the council adopted a 10-year strategy to increase the range, access and quality of the area’s cultural and creative industries.

This could encompass live music or outdoor performances, theatre, local history events, music classes, visual arts and more.

The strategy comes nearly five years after Banksy’s dystopian theme park Dismaland opened in Weston-super-Mare and became the centre of the art world for six weeks.

Heritage, arts and culture are essential parts of society because they create ideas and experiences which can excite, entertain, educate and challenge.

They also have a positive effect on people’s wellbeing, their sense of purpose and can help reduce loneliness and isolation.

For children and young people, participation can open-up ideas about careers and hobbies that can last a lifetime.

Having a strong creative economy can also help make places vibrant and successful places to live, supporting restaurants, cafes and places to stay. This in turn brings new investment, creating jobs and opportunities.
