Worried about a rough sleeper?

by mikebell on 20 November, 2019

If you’re worried about a rough sleeper, especially as we enter the colder weather, please let Street Link know. They’re a national charity who connect rough sleepers with local services.

You can download their app to your smartphone and use that to tell them about a rough sleeper, or visit their website www.streetlink.org.uk or ring 0300 500 0914. Once you’ve alerted StreetLink, the council will be notified and our outreach team will find the person and offer them support.

We work in partnership with a range of organisations to help people at risk of homelessness and support people who have become homeless. YMCA Weston, and NSCP have outreach workers who go out and speak to rough sleepers, carry out welfare checks, provide medical support and help them to access the support they need, including our homeless prevention team.

Somewhere To Go host Weston Night Assessment Centre which is referral-based. They have 12 beds and a variety of services visiting, all offering practical and meaningful support. To see how donations and volunteers can help, visit their website ➡️ https://www.somewheretogo.org/ or follow them on Facebook for their latest news.

KeySteps produce an in-crisis leaflet full of information, including Winter Warmth – the churches and organisations offering free or low cost meals throughout the week. You can access the leaflet at http://www.keysteps.org.uk/in-crisis-leaflet

And Churches Together open their doors to offer meals and befriending services. Their website is https://www.ctwd.org.uk
