Councillor Robert Payne writes: “It’s unbelievable that Weston Town Council still can’t sort out the issues surrounding the emptying of it’s dog bins.
“It got rid of one useless contractor in December as they kept missing collections. Then a new one has been appointed, which started collections but stopped them in the middle of February, and won’t be resuming them any time soon.
“A third private contractor was engaged, who also completely failed to do what they promised, leaving overflowing, stinking bins.
“Now Environmental Health have stepped in and got North Somerset Council’s contractors to act to overt a public health crisis. They’re going to empty all the Town Council’s bins this weekend as a one-off. But it doesn’t resolve the problem going forward, and the Town Council is seriously considering among other options giving up altogether and removing all it’s dog bins, which would be an admission of its inability to get even the basics right.
“You just couldn’t make this up. But this isn’t a joke, it’s a serious issue as there are real health implications for our community.”
