Weston’s war memorial

The war memorial in Grove Park was granted the status of a Grade II listed structure in 2016. Following this, councillor for Central Weston Robert Payne has asked the Town Council to investigate whether it can be restored to the original 1922 commission by the artist, Alfred Drury RA.
The sculpture as it currently stands is missing an olive branch which was held aloft, and Robert has suggested that the Town Council could apply for a grant from the War Memorials Trust to have this replaced.
He is disappointed that the Town Council has refused to investigate such a grant.
