Weston independent businesses take over the high street

by mikebell on 22 November, 2019

A group of independent shops in Weston-super-Mare have created a new and exciting collective, coming together to encourage more shoppers to the high street.

The group of 15 Weston-based independent shops will be hosting a series of pop-up shops at the Sovereign Centre on Thursday 28 November from 9am – 8pm. There will be free parking at the Sovereign Centre from 3pm onwards.

Founding member Jane Main from Sisters&Daughters Boutique said: “The Weston Collective exists to showcase the works of independent businesses from our local area including retailers, artists, crafts people, musicians and designers to strengthen the community of Weston and encourage the regeneration of the town centre. We want to see the local community come out and support this new initiative and help us to bring more choice to our High Street.”

Jon Walton, Sovereign Centre General Manager, said: “I am looking forward to welcoming the Weston Collective to the Sovereign Centre, it has been a delight working with Jane and the traders. I think that the diversity of products on sale, together with the businesses all being local will make this a popular event.

“We intend to support more  initiatives like this in the future – it is what the High Street needs.”

The event on Thursday will include pop-up shops selling cakes, clothes, chocolates, bath bomb, floral design work, hand-made glass objects, pottery and a lot, lot more. Traders will include:

Agatha and Reggie
