Sport and physical activity instructors in North Somerset are being given the opportunity to promote their activities for free.
North Somerset Council’s Sports and Active Lifestyles team is producing its seventh edition of its Active Directory, the flagship publication for sport and exercise groups in North Somerset, which will be available online.
Entry in the directory is free on the basis that the instructors, clubs and groups included show support for Go4Life – a North Somerset scheme encouraging and supporting people to live healthier and more active lives.
The Directory advertises activities for which participants do not need an advance membership, which rules out some more formal settings (e.g. golf in a members-only club, league football club). There is no guarantee that every activity submitted will be published.
Cllr Mike Bell, North Somerset Council deputy leader and executive member with responsibility for adult health, said: “The Go4Life Active Directory provides lots of information for people of all ages and abilities – whether they’re just beginning to be more active, returning to exercise or want to try something different in a fun and social environment.
“It’s proved to be a fantastic way for local clubs and instructors to promote their sessions, and help people across North Somerset get active.”
To promote your activity in the next edition of the online Active Directory, visit www.n-somerset.gov.uk/activedirectory where you can download and complete a short form, giving information about the physical activity or sports session you deliver. It can be anything from yoga to walking, or boxing to badminton.
The full Active Directory will be available online this autumn, with shorter guides to getting active in North Somerset also available at most libraries, leisure centres and GP surgeries.
The closing date for entries is Friday 20 September 2019.Leave a comment
