Extinction Rebellion Weston-super-Mare hosted a symbolic funeral procession, die-in and silent vigil representing the death of plants, animals, humans and the planet due to the climate crisis now reaching a critical point.

The event took place on Saturday 30th of March and follows North Somerset Council’s adoption of an ambitious climate change plan following a cross-party motion sponsored by Central Ward Councillor Mike Bell.

Mike said: “Climate change is real, is happening and risks causing dire consequences for all life on our plant if we do not act. We need to stop doing the things that cause harm to our climate, we need to mitigate the effects of the damage we’ve already caused and we need to talk about this issue all the time.

“I was pleased to join Councillor Robert Payne at this event and to continue to highlight the need for local, national and international action on climate change.”
