Weston Town Council has applied for a grant from GWR’s Customer and Communities Improvement Fund for some improvements to the public space around Weston’s railway station. If successful there could be around £30,000 available to enhance the front and rear entrances, which would be done in conjunction with the changes already taking place to the station. It would also link in with proposed improvements nearby to the gateway to the town centre planned by North Somerset Council.
This additional money could be used for improvements such as:
• Install, update or renew floral displays to both sides of the station, and possibly an art installation.
• New benches, and other seating.
• Refurbish the windows which are currently blanked out on the Sunnyside Road side of the building and include heritage paintwork to restore it back to how it used to be.
• Install new signage to the front entrance with useful information and to promote key destinations within the town.
The Customer and Communities Improvement Fund is provided by GWR to support projects across its network that address social need and benefit local communities.Leave a comment
