Weston super Glow

by mikebell on 13 October, 2018

Weston-super-Mare’s first ever beach night glow is set to go ahead next month after North Somerset Council teamed up with world-renowned Exclusive Ballooning.

On Saturday 17 November up to 30 balloons will line-up on the beach to illuminate the night skies with their show choreographed to music. As well as the night glow, Exclusive Ballooning, famed for their sky safari at Longleat and spectacular launches, will delight crowds with an afternoon mass balloon ascent from the beach.

Exclusive Ballooning Director Andrew Holly is a three-times British national champion and holds the Guinness world record for flying a hot air balloon in all 50 US states. Andrew knows the Weston area well having family based here.

Having spent over 2,200 hours flying through the skies all around the world, Andrew said: “I have flown in over 30 countries including America, Dubai, Japan and even Madagascar but I have been looking out at the beach for years and wanting to fly from there. What better way than to bring hot air ballooning to Weston than with a mass ascent taking off from the sand and then the stunning sight of balloons lining the beach for a spectacular choreographed night glow.’

The family-friendly event will include a number of catering concessions along the prom, entertainment on the Beach Lawns, and parking all day on the lawns for £5.

The event will go ahead subject to weather conditions. For updates on the event and live launch information on the day, follow @WestonSeafront on Facebook and Twitter.
