Getting help to form healthier habits

by mikebell on 4 September, 2018

A course which helps adults in North Somerset become more motivated to change lifestyle habits and overcome obstacles to losing weight is due to start next week.Getting Ready for Change is a free, six-week course delivered by Positive Step. It aims to help people understand why they have found it difficult to lose weight and support them to overcome these challenges.

The next course starts on Thursday 13 September from 6.30pm at the Coast Resource Centre in Locking Castle, Weston-super-Mare.

Topics covered include:

  • Thinking about change
  • Mental blocks, thinking patterns and emotions
  • Dealing with cravings
  • Healthy, balanced eating

Sue took part in Getting Ready for Change and told how it helped to change her attitude to eating: “The course was much more about our brains and how we think about food than numbers on a scale, we covered many interesting topics giving us all plenty of food for thought.”

“As the course progressed, I began to notice new little habits in my day to day life. I started to become choosier. And suddenly I realised that I was eating better and enjoying my food much more.”

“My mindset is definitely in a much better place now and I’m feeling lighter and brighter all round. I definitely have more energy and do not feel as tired as I did. And have a few new friends as well, which is an unexpected bonus!”

To attend the course you need to be aged 18 years or over and have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of between 25 and 40. To find out more or book a space contact Positive Step on 01934 523 682 or email enquiries@positivestep.org.uk.
