A number of changes are being introduced at North Somerset Council’s three recycling centres in a bid to increase recycling rates and reduce the amount of taxpayers’ money spent on sending waste to landfill.
From Monday 3 April charges are being introduced for the disposal of construction and non-household waste at the centres in Backwell, Portishead and Weston.
Other changes to be introduced at the centres include adding hard plastics and plate glass to the items that can be recycled, webcams to show how busy the sites are, access periods for small businesses and residents permits. See the council’s press release for more information about all the changes.
