North Somerset Council’s garden waste service will change from bags to bins on Wednesday 1 March 2017. The existing reusable garden waste bags will no longer be collected when the new service begins.

There will be no change to the frequency of collections.

You can register online by Sunday 18 December for a reduced fee of £20 and guaranteed delivery by Wednesday 1 March. After Sunday 18 December, due to production timescales and the increased cost of ad hoc deliveries, registration will be £25 and we cannot guarantee delivery by the time the new service starts.

There are three bin sizes to choose from:

• 140 litre
• 180 litre (same as standard black refuse bin)
• 240 litre

The registration fee is the same regardless of the size you choose. Each property can have two bins registered. If you produce more waste than will fit into two bins you can dispose of it at one of our recycling centres.

Registration covers your property, so bins will stay with the property if you move. If you move to an un-registered property, you will have to register for the service to receive a garden waste collection.

Garden waste bags

New, smaller garden waste bags are available by exception only and restricted to those properties that are currently on the grey sack service for refuse. All other properties will receive bins.

Each registration covers three garden waste bags, which is equivalent to one bin. In line with the bin service you may make up to two registrations, which would give you an entitlement for up to six bags. Your first bags will be provided as part of your registration, but you will have to purchase any future replacements.
