Weston Library opening hours to be cut in changes

LIBRARY opening hours in Weston will be cut from July as part of a series of changes aimed at making the service more accessible for users.

With effect from Monday 4 July total opening hours will reduce from 53.5 hours to 50.5 hours per week, with an earlier opening time and reduced evening hours.

Weston Central Ward Councillor Mike Bell said: “Some of the changes will be welcomed by library users, particularly the earlier opening time of 9.30am.

“However, with plans to close the library and move the service into the revamped Town Hall pressing ahead, many will be concerned about any reduction in overall opening hours. Nationwide library services have faced the squeeze and we must ensure that our town centre library remains a vibrant, accessible and well resourced space.”

The existing opening hours are as follows:

Mon, Tue, Thur, Fri - 10am – 7.30pm
Wed – 10am – 5.30pm
Sat – 9am – 5pm

The new hours will be:

Mon, Thur - 9.30am – 7.30pm
Tue, Wed, Fri - 9.30am – 5.30pm
Sat - 9.30am – 4pm
